Lake Cherokee is a private lake located approximately 7 miles off of U.S. Scenic Highway 11, a few miles Northeast of Walhalla, West of Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee, and south of Cashiers, NC. The Chattooga River is also not far away.
Guest privileges to the lake: include swimming, fishing, or boating (on one of our non-motorized boats). The Blue Ridge Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop to the Northern half of the lake. There are very nice mountain views from the lake and from the house.
The water temperature is very pleasant, as our altitude is just over 1000 feet. Our area is located precisely at the edge where the foothills end and the mountains begin. Just a few miles from the house, elevations jump to well over 2000', and then quickly move to over 3000'.
One of the neat things about Lake Cherokee is that it is very quiet and peaceful. Because it is so centrally located, it is very convenient for your family to be able to enjoy the many wonderful things to do, that the area has to offer.
You may see Lake Cherokee and Lake Isaquenna referred to as different lakes, but they are the same.
The foothills end and the mountains begin within walking distance. The Sumter National Forest begins across the street
